A relatively slow growing species that generally display good form, highly ornamental bark and attractive autumn foliage. The dark green, glossy leaves turn yellowish-apricot to bright scarlet in autumn, insignificant green flowers in spring are followed in late Autumn by small clusters of small, blue, egg shaped berries. The Black Tupelo is popular as a specimen tree for larger parks and gardens.
